Ruling on establishing more than one mosque in a village

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner is from Sudan. We reviewed some of his questions, and this one remains. He says: “Your Eminence, if the people of a village are mostly ignorant of the religion, is it permissible for them to establish another prayer hall in addition to the village mosque? And if the regular prayer in it leads to fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) when they are advised, what is the ruling on that?”

Answer:
It is obligatory for the people of the village to pray together in one mosque and to cooperate in righteousness and piety. This is because praying inside the mosque helps them in doing good, getting to know one another, advising one another to truth, and offering sincere advice. One does not seek to give sincere advice to people if it is easy for him to advise them all together.
However, if the village is large and its ends are far apart, and they establish two mosques due to the distance, there is no harm, as Allah says:
Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacityلا يُكَلِّفُ اللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا
[al-Baqarah:286] if there is hardship. They may place one mosque on the right side and the other on the left, or one in the east and one in the west, if the distance is such that it is difficult for them to gather in one mosque. In that case, there is no blame on them. It is obligatory for them to cooperate in righteousness and piety, to advise one another, and to be cautious of the causes of enmity. And Allah is the One to be asked for help. Yes.
