The ruling on one who is involved in an accident that causes the death of several people

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Hasan Yahya from Abha says in this question: Your Eminence, I am a person upon whom Allah decreed a car accident, and there were four people with me who all passed away. What is obligatory for me? I know that for a life, the expiation is fasting two consecutive months. Do the four have the same ruling as one, or do I fast two consecutive months for each life?

Answer:
If the accident was due to your negligence, you must fast two months for each life, making eight months, unless you find several slave lives that are owned with known ownership. In that case, you free a slave for each soul. However, if there is no freeing of a slave, you must fast two months for each soul if you were the one who carried that burden or caused it. Yes.

The presenter: Does he have to fast eight months?

The Shaykh: Eight months, with each two months being consecutive on their own.

The presenter: What if he encounters Ramadan, Shaykh, while he is fasting?

The Shaykh: He breaks his fast in Ramadan and continues. If Sha'ban is completed, he continues into Shawwal, and it is sufficient. This is because it is a legitimate religious excuse. He completes two months, sixty days. If Ramadan or the festival interrupts it, it does not harm. If he fasts them before Ramadan or after Ramadan, that is better, so that three months do not coincide?

The presenter: Okay, Shaykh, what if he intends Ramadan and the month after it, Shaykh?

The Shaykh: It is not sufficient; it must be two months other than Ramadan.

The presenter: Other than Ramadan. May Allah reward you.
