The ruling on praying six rak'ahs after Maghrib

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
From the questions of this questioner, may the Shaykh be honored, from Jordan, he says: There are people who pray six rak'ahs after the sunnah of Maghrib, two by two, and they say that it is the prayer of the penitents. What is its ruling?

Answer:
This has no basis. They also call it the "comforting prayer," and it has no basis. The prayer of the penitents is the Duha prayer when the sun is high. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called the Duha prayer when the sun is high the prayer of the penitents.
As for the prayer after Maghrib: if one prays six, ten, or twenty, saying the taslim after every two, it is all good. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The night prayer is (to be offered) two by two.صلاة الليل مثنى مثنى
Sunan Ibn Majah 1319Sahih (Darussalam)
So if one wishes to pray after the sunnah of Maghrib four rak'ahs with two taslims, or six rak'ahs with three taslims, or eight rak'ahs with four taslims, or more, there is nothing wrong with it.
But specifying six, thinking that it is a specific prayer, has no basis. Some of them call it the "comforting prayer." Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you.
