The Ruling on Hastening the Maghrib Prayer and Omitting the Two Rak'ahs Before It

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He also asks and says: I also notice that they establish the prayer immediately after the adhan for the Maghrib prayer, without the two rak'ahs. Is this correct?

Answer:
It is better not to hasten a little. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would hasten the Maghrib prayer more than the others—(peace and blessings be upon him)—and he would not sit after the adhan except for a short time, just enough for them to pray two rak'ahs. So the Sunnah is to pray two rak'ahs after the adhan, then the imam establishes the prayer after that. He does not hasten; he takes his time a bit so that the one on the way catches the prayer, and the one making wudu' catches the prayer. But it should not be like the Zuhr, 'Asr, Maghrib, 'Isha', and Fajr. No, rather he advances it more, meaning he hastens it more; because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) would not delay it except a little, and the people would pray two rak'ahs, then he would establish the prayer—(peace and blessings be upon him)—yes.
