Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
With Allah’s blessing, we begin this noble and blessed session with a message received from the United Arab Emirates. The questioner, Abu Ibrahim, says: “Your Eminence! What is the best thing by which a servant draws near to his Lord, other than prayer, among the deeds that benefit the Muslim in his Hereafter and his worldly life? May Allah reward you with good.”
Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions.
There are many acts of drawing near to Allah, and praise be to Allah. Prayer is among the best acts of drawing near, voluntary fasting is among the best acts of drawing near, giving charity in wealth is among the best acts of drawing near, Hajj is among the best acts of drawing near, 'Umrah is among the best acts of drawing near, seeking forgiveness, frequenting tasbih and tahlil, and reciting the Qur'an are among the best acts of drawing near.
So the believer strives in the various types of acts of drawing near: he recites the Qur'an and increases in reciting the Qur'an, he increases in tasbih, tahlil, and takbir, he increases in voluntary charity, voluntary prayers, voluntary fasting, and voluntary Hajj according to his capacity. And when jihad comes, it is prescribed for him to participate in jihad in the path of Allah if Allah makes it easy for him. All of these are acts of drawing near, all of them. Just as when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked by some Bedouins about what was required of them, and he taught them the laws of Islam: he taught them the two testimonies, then he taught them prayer. He said, “Is there anything else upon me?” He said:Sunan an-Nasa'i 458Sahih (Darussalam). Then when he taught him zakah, he said, “Is there anything else upon me?” He said: . Then when he taught him fasting Ramadan, he said, “Is there anything else upon me?” He said: Sunan an-Nasa'i 458Sahih (Darussalam). And so it is with Hajj.
So the point is: that the believer strives in the various types of acts of drawing near. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you, O Shaykh.
