The Ruling on Eating and Drinking with Those Who Do Not Pray

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He says: I live with my cousins, and we eat and drink together, and the family also eats and drinks together, but they do not pray. I have advised them many times, but they did not respond to me. How should I proceed? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
It is obligatory for you to advise them and to denounce the evil, for this is a great evil; because prayer is the pillar of Islam, and it is the greatest of the five pillars of Islam after the two testimonies. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding it:
Between a man and disbelief and shirk (associating partners with Allah) is the abandonment of prayer.بين الرجل وبين الكفر والشرك ترك الصلاة
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The covenant that distinguishes between us and them is prayer; so whoever leaves it, he has committed Kufr.العهد الذي بيننا وبينهم الصلاة، فمن تركها؛ فقد كفر
Sunan Ibn Majah 1079Sahih (Darussalam)
The matter of prayer is great.
So it is obligatory to advise them and to denounce them. If they respond, praise be to Allah. Otherwise, do not sit with them. However, there is no harm in repeating the advice if you hope for their guidance. Repeat the advice without taking them as friends or companions, but repeat the advice and the call to Allah; perhaps Allah will guide them through your means. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
