Ruling on drawing blood from a fasting person

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Regarding the mention of cupping, Your Eminence, if someone has blood drawn for a test, or donates blood to a patient, does this affect his fast?

The Shaykh:
Blood drawn for a test is light and does not affect the fast; blood drawn for a test does not affect it. However, if a large amount of blood is drawn to be donated to a patient, the safest course for him is to make up the fast if it is obligatory. The safest course for him is to make it up, because it resembles cupping in some respects.
The correct view according to the scholars is that this is specific to cupping. However, equating a large amount of blood with cupping is a strong opinion. Otherwise, the known position among the scholars who broke their fast due to cupping is to restrict it to cupping only, because there is an explicit text regarding it, and they do not consider bloodletting or other such acts to break the fast. But the opinion of those who say that what resembles cupping is included with it is a strong opinion. As for a small amount, such as a test on the finger, or a test from the thigh, or otherwise, this does not break the fast according to the correct view; it does not invalidate the fast. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
