Ruling on Reciting the Qur'an, Praying, and Other Acts on Behalf of the Deceased

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message was received by the program from the listener Sa'd Muhammad from Baqiyah. The brother Sa'd says: Is it permissible to recite the Qur'an for the deceased? And is it permissible for a person to pray for the deceased? Or is charity, supplication, and Hajj sufficient for that? Please guide us, may Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
Yes, yes. There is nothing in the scriptural evidence indicating the permissibility of reciting for the deceased, or praying for the deceased. What is prescribed for the deceased is charity on his behalf, supplication for him, Hajj on his behalf, and 'Umrah. This is what is mentioned in the hadiths. As for reciting on his behalf, reciting the funeral prayer for him, or praying on his behalf; I do not know of any scriptural evidence for this, even if some scholars have said it, but I do not know of any evidence for it, yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
