Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And peace be upon you.

The questioner : Is this the residence of Shaykh Nasser?

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : May Allah keep you safe.

The questioner : If you please, I would like to ask you two questions.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : First, I would like to ask you about reciting the Qur'an for the deceased.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : Is it permissible, for example, for a person to recite the Qur'an for a deceased relative?

The Shaykh : Where is the recitation?

The questioner : For example, I heard...

The Shaykh : Answer the question, may Allah guide you. Where is the recitation, at the grave or in the house?

The questioner : No, in the house.

The Shaykh : Okay, is it on the occasion of his death for three days, or forty days, or annually?

The questioner : No, for his soul.

The Shaykh : For his soul, absolutely.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : If the reciter is the son, he recites for the soul of his father and mother, gives charity, and does all good, and the parents benefit from this, even if it is only by reciting the Qur'an. However, it is not permissible to recite at the grave, nor is it permissible to do so for three days, forty days, or annually, as is the custom of many people. But if he recites like this for the sake of Allah, in the house, whether the reciter is a son or a daughter, it is only for the father and mother.

The questioner: Yes.
