What is the ruling on selling a commodity for more than its price?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The listener is Ibrahim Ali al-Mashhad, a Syrian who works in Jordan, as stated in his message. He asks a number of questions, one of which is: What is the ruling on selling a commodity, or for example a motorcycle, for a period of six months for an amount exceeding its price by ten thousand Syrian pounds? Is this considered riba? Or is it permissible? May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.

Answer:
There is no fixed limit for the price or the profit. So if you sell the motorcycle or the car for a known price in installments and over a period of time, there is nothing wrong with it. You bought the car or the motorcycle for ten thousand and sold it for twenty thousand, five hundred per month, or one thousand per month, or per year; there is no harm in that, even if the price is higher than the cash price. Because this is a matter with a known term, not cash, so there is nothing wrong with it.
But you must be kind to the buyer if he does not understand. You should clarify the matter to him and explain it to him so that you do not deceive him with something that harms him:
A Muslim is a brother of another Muslim. So he should neither oppress himالمسلم أخو المسلم لا يظلمه
Sahih al-Bukhari 6951
So you must be careful in this customary sale and the customary price. If your partner is naive and does not understand matters, you must be gentle with him and sell to him as you sell to people who understand. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
