The ruling on the imamah of one who denies some of the attributes of Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
If a person acknowledges some attributes but not others, O Shaykh, is it permissible to follow him in prayer and pray behind him?

Answer:
This is the statement of the Asha'irah; they believe in some attributes and interpret the rest figuratively. This is a false school of thought that is not permissible. It is obligatory to believe in all the attributes mentioned in the Noble Book and the authentic, pure Sunnah. This is the obligation according to the people of the Sunnah and the community. It is obligatory to affirm all that Allah mentioned in His great Book regarding His names and attributes, and likewise what His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned in the authentic hadiths must be affirmed for Allah, passed on as they came, with belief in them, and the conviction that He is
There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the Hearing, the Seeing.لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِ شَيْءٌ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ البَصِيرُ
[al-Shura: 11].
Therefore, it is obligatory to affirm them with an affirmation that does not involve likening Allah to creation, and to purify Him (Glorified and Exalted is He) from resembling His creation with a purification that does not involve denial of the divine attributes. For this reason, the people of the Sunnah and the community say: It is obligatory to believe in the names and attributes of Allah in the manner befitting Allah, without distortion of a text's meaning, without denial of the divine attributes, without asking how an attribute is, and without likening Allah to creation.
One who is known to interpret some of the attributes figuratively should not be taken as an imam, but he is not declared a disbeliever because of the doubtful matter. However, he should not be taken as an imam; another imam should be taken instead of him. Because the Asha'irah—although they interpreted some of the attributes—have a doubtful matter in their interpretation, so they are not disbelievers by this statement, but they have committed a religious innovation and misguidance. It is obligatory for one who is in that state to repent to Allah from that and to adhere to the methodology of the people of the Sunnah and the community; because it is obligatory not to interpret any of the attributes figuratively. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
