Advice for one who is afflicted with showing off and self-admiration when he does good

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
After this, a message reached the program from the Arab Republic of Egypt, sent by the listener Ahmad Mansur. Brother Ahmad began his message as follows: In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Compassionate. Your Eminence, Shaykh Abdul Aziz ibn Abdullah ibn Baz (may Allah preserve him and grant him piety). First, Your Eminence, I want to let you know that I love you for the sake of Allah the Exalted. I ask Allah, and then I ask you, to supplicate to Allah in my absence that He grant me sincerity in all my religious and worldly deeds, for I constantly feel that my deeds are mixed with some degree of showing off. And when I recite the Qur'an and hear people listening to me, a state of self-admiration overtakes me. Please guide me, Your Eminence, so that I may be sincere to Allah the Exalted. Does that feeling affect my deeds? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
We say: May Allah love you for the sake of which you loved us, and we ask Allah to grant you sincerity, success, and guidance. We ask Allah for us and for you success and guidance, and that you may be sincere in all your deeds.
We advise you to be cautious of self-admiration and showing off, and to strive against your self. If you strive against your self, then rejoice in good, if Allah wills. When you recite the Qur'an, or pray, or do any good, strive to do it for Allah alone, with no showing off and no seeking of reputation. If something occurs to you, drive it away by seeking refuge in Allah from Satan, and by being cautious. The one who strives is helped. Our Lord says, Glorified and Exalted is He:
And those who strive for Us - We will surely guide them to Our ways. And indeed, Allah is with the doers of good.وَالَّذِينَ جَاهَدُوا فِينَا لَنَهْدِيَنَّهُمْ سُبُلَنَا وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَمَعَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ
[Al-Ankabut: 69].
So whenever any showing off occurs to you, you must strive against it, drive it away by seeking refuge in Allah from Satan, and strive to be sincere to Allah the Exalted in your recitation, in your prayer, and in all your acts of worship.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
