The Shaykh’s talk on how most sects believe in the Book and the Sunnah, but they contradict the methodology of the righteous Salaf

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh: They are upon the Book and the Sunnah, of course. Can they contradict it?

The questioner : No.

The Shaykh: They cannot contradict it. These people you are pointing to will stand with us, but what did we gain from that? I said: Is it sufficient for a Muslim to be upon the Book and the Sunnah? He said: It is sufficient. I said: There is no Muslim on the face of the earth who disavows this combination.

The questioner: Of course, of course.

The Shaykh: Yes, because if he says: No, it means he has exited the circle of Islam, do you understand, my brother Firas?

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: Ah, I said: What is your opinion then? I said to him: The Qadiyani who claims there are prophets after Muhammad (peace be upon him), and among them is Mirza Ghulam Ahmad the Qadiyani, does not say: I am not upon the Book and the Sunnah. The Mu'tazilah in the past did not disavow the Book and the Sunnah. All of them claim affiliation with the Book and the Sunnah, but based on the principle: "And every one claims a connection to Layla," and so on. He fell silent like that. I said: What is your opinion if we add a third condition, and perhaps the last one? He said: What is it? I said: Upon the methodology of the righteous Salaf. He naturally researched the issue, and I said to him, among other things: All the misguided sects, old and new, up to the last point we agreed with you on, are upon the Book and the Sunnah, agreed? But if we look into the Ibadis, we are currently afflicted by the Ibadis, because they are active in spreading their books, and there is the amazing in them. And by the way, I said to some of my brothers: Do you know that the Khawarij declare Muslims disbelievers because of committing a major sin and they will keep them in the Fire? I said that Shaykh Muhammad Abdullah al-Salmi, one of the great late scholars in the present era, who died recently, judges himself as a disbeliever!!

The questioner: According to his own madhhab!!

The Shaykh: According to his madhhab, yes. Why? Because when he translated the book Musnad al-Rabi', which they named after five centuries: al-Jami' al-Sahih, to match our al-Jami' al-Sahih of Imam al-Bukhari, what did he say? He said: "This book—meaning Musnad al-Rabi'—all its hadiths are authentic by the testimony of the opponent," meaning the Muslims. May Allah fight them, how are they deluded? First: It is not possible for them to establish the attribution of this book to its author, this Rabi' ibn Habib. Second: Rabi' ibn Habib’s shaykh, Abu 'Ubaydah, is unknown to the scholars of hadith, and he has many defects, and very many. What concerns me is a specific part titled by al-Salmi himself about him: "Al-Maqati' al-Mawiyah from Jabir ibn Zayd." Jabir ibn Zayd is a Tabi'i from the students of Ibn Abbas, and he is a noble man in the eyes of the people of the Sunnah and the community. But the author of the book has two intermediaries between him and Jabir ibn Zayd, so he is saying from Jabir from Jabir, meaning they are all disconnected. Who among the Muslim scholars, especially those they call sincere, says that these are authentic hadiths? Then there are hadiths, glory to Allah!! They do not match our authentic hadith:
My intercession is for the people who committed the major sins in my Ummah. شفاعتي لأهل الكبائر من أمَّتي
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2435Sahih (Darussalam)
, Rabi' narrated:
There is no intercession for the people of major sins ليس لأهل الكبائر شفاعة
!! And yet they tell you that the hadiths of Musnad al-Rabi' are acceptable and authentic according to the opponent!! The point now is that none of these sects has anyone who disavows the Book and the Sunnah. What is your opinion, Professor Abdul Halim, that we then say: upon the methodology of the righteous Salaf? Finally, he agreed, but look at the end.
