The ruling on praying in a place that contains images

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Our sister asks and says: Is it permissible for a woman to pray in the presence of an image in a book or a paper? And if she covers it by placing something over it, or closes the book that contains some images, is the prayer accepted in that case? And is seeking forgiveness and glorifying Allah accepted? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
Yes; praying in a place that has an image, or in a book that has an image, or on a carpet that has an image, or on a cushion that has an image, does not harm; the prayer is valid, and that does not harm. However, if the image is hanging, it is obligatory to remove it. As for an image on something that is trodden upon, like a cushion or a carpet, it has no effect, and there is no blame in that. Only the hanging image is what prevents the entry of the angels, and it is not permissible to hang images. What is in the book is like something covered up; because the book is spread over it, and the book is closed over it, so it is not visible. And if the believer removes the head of the image, the prohibition is removed entirely. If he cuts the head with ink until it is all gone, and covers it all up, or if he cuts and removes entirely from a three-dimensional image; then there is no harm. As it is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he ordered the head of the statue to be cut off, so that the image-maker would be like a tree without a head. Yes.
