Is it permissible to dissect the body of a Muslim for the sake of learning?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
It is customary that the subject of anatomy is studied today in medical colleges on the bodies of some humans. Is it permissible to dissect the body of a Muslim for the sake of learning?

Answer:
A decision has been issued by the Council—by the Council of Senior Scholars—prohibiting this, and it is not permissible to dissect the body of a Muslim for the sake of learning. Rather, bodies that are permissible and not inviolable should be purchased: from India, or from other than India from the lands of disbelief, so that learning can be done on them. This is because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade disrespecting the Muslim, and he made him—whether alive or dead—respectable, and he said:
Breaking the bones of the deceased is like breaking his bones when he is alive.كسر عظم المَيِّت ككسره حيًّا
