The ruling on one who learns knowledge and refuses to teach the people

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Young men who have reached a good level in knowledge were advised in the best manner to guide the people, but they said: "It is enough for us to remove ignorance from ourselves." Do they have any argument for that?

Answer:
No, it is not permissible. The one who has knowledge must make it clear to the people. Allah has taken upon those who have knowledge that they make it clear
And [mention, O Muhammad], when Allah took a covenant from those who were given the Scripture, [saying], "You must make it clear to the people and not conceal it."
[Al Imran: 187], but only if they speak with knowledge, gentleness, and wisdom, not with ignorance...
Q: Is this their argument, or do they not teach the people?
A: This is a mistake.
The best among you is he who learns and teaches the Qur'an.
Sunan Abi Dawud 1452Sahih (Al-Albani)
, and in the hadith it is narrated from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
It was narrated from Ibrahim bin ‘Abdur-Rahman bin ‘Awf that his father said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Allah and the angels send blessings upon the first row.’”
Sunan Ibn Majah 999Sahih (Darussalam)
, and greater than that is the saying of the Exalted:
And who is better in speech than one who invites to Allah and does righteousness
[Fussilat: 33], and He (Exalted and Majestic is He) said:
Say, “This is my path; I call to Allah with insight,قُلْ هَذِهِ سَبِيلِي أَدْعُو إِلَى اللَّهِ عَلَى بَصِيرَةٍ
[Yusuf: 108].
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
One who guides to something good has a reward similar to that of its doer.
Sahih Muslim 1893a
, and there are many hadiths on this.
