How does a student combine the lesser pilgrimage with seeking knowledge?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
How do you reconcile 'Umar's (may Allah be pleased with him) seeking permission from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for 'Umrah and his request for knowledge from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?

Answer:
There is weakness in the chain of this hadith because it is narrated by 'Asim ibn 'Ubayd Allah. However, the lesser pilgrimage is required, whether one is with the best of people or with the prophets. The lesser pilgrimage is a righteous deed, and seeking knowledge from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) does not prevent it. A student of knowledge performs Hajj and the lesser pilgrimage, even if he is seeking knowledge or teaching people, for it is an independent act of devotion.
Q: So there is no conflict?
A: There is no conflict.
