The Ruling on Donating Kidneys and Human Organs

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
I asked you about the ruling on donating kidneys in the presence of Shaykh Abdulaziz al-Qasim, and your answer was that you were withholding judgment. On one occasion, you said, may Allah preserve you, that you were withholding judgment, and that prohibition was closer. Then I took this fatwa to the school, and one of the teachers brought a photocopied page from "Al-Majallah al-Arabiyyah" that one of the students had brought, containing a fatwa from you permitting the donation of kidneys. Do you permit, may Allah preserve you, to read it to you?

Answer:
This is the opinion of some members of the Council.
Q: It was mentioned that it is yours, may Allah reward you.
A: Even if it is, I am retracting it if it is verified to be from me.
Q: Shall I read it to you?
A: Newspapers publish whatever comes and goes.
Q: So what have you settled on, may Allah preserve you?
A: I see that one should not donate. The Muslim is honored, whether alive or dead; nothing is to be cut from him.
