What is your opinion, O Shaykh, regarding going out to confront the trials that appear in the lands of the Muslims with some force?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Yes?
The student : It is known now, as I said, that every day and the one after it is worse than the previous one. So, regarding us in the Hijaz, things have started to appear that one did not imagine before, I mean, in recent times.

The Shaykh: There is no power nor strength except with Allah.
The student : The Salafi group among some of the youth see that it is obligatory to do something of confrontation, or force, so what is your opinion, O Shaykh, about this?

The Shaykh : It is not permissible, it is not permissible, this is not permissible for us.
The student : I mean, can we boycott them?

The Shaykh : We always and forever answer regarding the issue of going out (in revolt). Going out, as every student of knowledge who has not been afflicted by following desires knows, is conditional upon us seeing open disbelief. Is there a disagreement on this?
The student : No.

The Shaykh : There is no disagreement, but we mention another thing, which is very important. However, as the Lord of the Worlds said:
but most of the people do not know." وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
[Al-A'raf 7:187]
This second condition, if the first condition is realized, which is: that we see open disbelief in a certain land, then going out is permissible. But which going out is the permissible one?! The going out that eliminates the remaining Muslims, and allows those against whom they went out, if the expression is correct, allows them in the land? Is this the permissible going out? As for the permissible going out, it is that which allows the ones who went out to overthrow the unjust rulers, or let us say the disbelievers, because we conditioned the first condition: that we see open disbelief. So which of the two goings out is the permissible one?! This going out that we see today in every land of Islam, whenever a group goes out, the call regresses backward, and the going out of the people in your Hijaz is not far, so what did the call benefit from all of this?! Rather, it was a regression. Likewise, the trial in Egypt, and the trial in Syria where they went out against Hafez al-Asad and so on. In short, we say: the permissible going out has two conditions: the first condition is explicitly stated, which is that we see open disbelief, and the second condition: that it is predominant in the opinion of those who go out that they will eliminate this which deserves to be eliminated and to go out against, not that they will be eliminated.
The student : It should not be a gamble or an experiment!

The Shaykh : This is exactly what the student is asking, correct.

The Shaykh : So we say now: those who want to go out in your place or in another land, what means do they have, what preparation do they have?!
The student : Nothing.

The Shaykh : Nothing, O people! Allahu Akbar!! And therefore we say: as the Lord of the Worlds said, on the apparent meaning of the verse, and we do not intend by it to contradict the well-known hadith of Abu Bakr:
O you who have believed, upon you is [responsibility for] yourselves. Those who have gone astray will not harm you when you have been guided يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْفُسَكُمْ لَا يَضُرُّكُمْ مَنْ ضَلَّ إِذَا اهْتَدَيْتُمْ
[Al-Ma'idah 5:105]
What did the Messenger (peace be upon him) do in the first call? Only that they worship Allah and avoid the taghut. Now, it is possible for the Muslim to speak about everything, but to say this ruler is a disbeliever, this ruler is an open sinner, and he may be so, he may be so, but what is the benefit of you saying this?! Except, and I think something more dangerous than what we see today: we know in Syria that many of the callers who were hastening the matter returned on their heels as losers. I know a Shaykh there.
The student : In Syria, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh : Yes?
The student : In Syria?

The Shaykh : In Syria, I know a Shaykh who was in the large mosque known as the Mosque of Banu Umayyah, there is a grave there which is claimed to be the grave of Yahya (peace be upon him), built upon it a dome and decorations and so on, and people come and make du'a at it and ask him for aid and provision and healing and so on. One of the Shuyukh used to stand and publicly denounce these people, and the whole atmosphere was poisoned, they all see what is in this, this man seeks nearness to Allah through this righteous man, through this Prophet, they do not see it as a thing. So what happened? The crowds rose against him, they humiliated him, and it was seen later that he was standing with the standing people making du'a.
The student : There is no power nor strength except with Allah!
