Ruling on taking a sandal from the mosque for one who has lost his sandal

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Sometimes in some mosques there is a mix-up in the shoes. If a person finds that his sandal is missing, may he take any sandal and walk in it?

Answer:
This is not permissible for him. If he has been wronged, he should not wrong others. However, if the sandal is in a specific place and he finds one that resembles it, the most likely scenario is that its owner made a mistake and took it. So, if he finds a sandal that resembles his lost one, it appears that its owner made a mistake, and there is no harm in taking the one in his place that resembles it. But if there is no resemblance between them, he should not take it.
