The ruling on one who intends showing off and praise in his worship

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
If a person enters into worship intending to show off and seek praise—meaning, without the intention of worship—does this constitute major shirk (associating partners with Allah)?

Answer:
It is minor shirk. If he is a Muslim, it is minor shirk, like the Islam of the hypocrites. All their deeds are hypocrisy, and it is all lies; we ask Allah for safety.
Q: The statement of some scholars regarding the classification of shirk: shirk of intention, will, and purpose, and they cited as evidence for it the verse:
Whoever desires the worldly life and its adornmentمَنْ كَانَ يُرِيدُ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا وَزِينَتَهَا
[Hud: 15]?
A: This applies if he intends by his Islam the worldly life, with his intention; then his Islam is invalid, like the Islam of the hypocrites.
As for the one who embraced Islam for the sake of Allah, being sincere to Allah, but it occurs to him in some matters.
