It is not permissible for a Muslim to dislike what Allah has not disliked

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: Is leaving a permissible act as a means of drawing near to Allah considered a type of shirk (associating partners with Allah) or not? There are people who commit to this and view it as a form of wara' (scrupulousness), and they may declare some permissible things to be haram (forbidden) or makruh (disliked) without any evidence or proof, and consequently they avoid them, and they may even become hostile and quarrel with others over this. I ask for clarification. May Allah reward you.
Al-Qassim

A: It is not permissible for a Muslim to forbid what Allah has made lawful, nor to dislike what Allah has not disliked, nor to make lawful what Allah has forbidden; because of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And do not say about what your tongues assert of untruth, "This is lawful and this is unlawful," to invent falsehood about Allahوَلا تَقُولُوا لِمَا تَصِفُ أَلْسِنَتُكُمُ الْكَذِبَ هَذَا حَلالٌ وَهَذَا حَرَامٌ لِتَفْتَرُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ الْكَذِبَ
[Surat al-Nahl: 116], and He the Exalted said:
Say, "My Lord has only forbidden immoralities - what is apparent of them and what is concealed - and sin, and oppression without right, and that you associate with Allah that for which He has not sent down authority, and that you say about Allah that which you do not know."
[Surat al-A'raf: 33]. Thus, the Exalted made speaking about Him without knowledge in this noble verse higher in rank than shirk; because of the great corruption that results from it.
And the Exalted informed in another verse of Surat al-Baqarah that this is from the command of Satan, where He the Exalted said:
(168) O mankind, eat from whatever is on earth [that is] lawful and good and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy. (169) He only orders you to evil and immorality and to say about Allah what you do not know.
[Surat al-Baqarah: 168-169].
As for leaving permissible things as a means of drawing near to Allah the Exalted, to thereby assist oneself in obeying Allah and His Messenger, without forbidding it for oneself or for people, such as leaving fine clothes at times out of humility and caution against arrogance, and to break the soul's habit of what is feared for it in terms of boasting, vanity, and arrogance over people, then there is nothing wrong with this, and one will be rewarded for it, if Allah wills.
