The ruling on one who is coerced into doing a forbidden act

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
How is a person held accountable for matters he does not control, such as hatred and love, envy, and the like?

Answer:
Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacityلا يُكَلِّفُ اللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا
[al-Baqarah:286],
So fear Allah as much as you are ableفَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ
[al-Taghābun:16]. The thing he did while being coerced by a legally valid coercion, meaning: he was coerced by force while his heart was at rest in faith. He was coerced into drinking intoxicants, or coerced into disbelief by beating, or by a threat from someone capable of carrying it out, someone whom he believes will carry it out; that does not harm him, if his heart is at rest in faith, firm upon the truth, by the saying of Allah, the Exalted:
Whoever disbelieves in Allah after his belief... except for one who is forced [to renounce his religion] while his heart is secure in faithمَنْ كَفَرَ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ بَعْدِ إِيمَانِهِ إِلَّا مَنْ أُكْرِهَ وَقَلْبُهُ مُطْمَئِنٌّ بِالإِيمَانِ
[al-Nahl:106].
So if he is coerced into insulting the religion, or insulting the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) by beating, or by a threat of killing, and he believes that the one coercing him will carry it out, then he is excused for speaking, but with his heart remaining firm in faith, with his heart believing that he is upon the truth, and that this coercion is what compelled him to what .... He said it with his tongue, not his heart.
And likewise, if he is coerced into drinking intoxicants, poured into his mouth, or given to him, and they say: either you drink, or we will beat you, or kill you, the sin is upon them, and nothing is upon him if his heart is at rest in its prohibition, and that he only did it in order to avert harm, yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
