Calling Those Influenced by Specific Cultures

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: If the people being called to Islam, whether men or women, are influenced by specific cultures or specific societies, what is the best way to call them?

A: The caller to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) should explain to them the errors, religious innovations, and similar matters present in the schools of thought they were influenced by, the paths they claimed affiliation with, and the environments in which they lived. Likewise, he should explain to them the things in the associations and societies in which they lived that contradict the Shari'ah. He should call them to weigh everything that is unclear to them against the just standard, which is the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). Whatever agrees with them, or with one of them, is what is considered valid in the Shari'ah, and whatever contradicts them is to be rejected from its speaker, whoever he may be.
This is how the scholars used to weigh matters of disagreement against the scriptural evidence. Whatever agrees with the Shari'ah must be retained, and whatever contradicts the Shari'ah must be discarded, even if its speaker is great; for the truth is above everyone. Likewise, it is obligatory to abandon any customs or morals that contradict the Shari'ah, even if they are part of the character of fathers, shaykhs, predecessors, and others. Everyone must hold fast to everything that Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) have commanded; for that is the path to salvation, as Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said:
And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow [other] ways, for you will be separated from His way. This has He instructed you that you may become righteous.
