Guidance for one who has committed sins and then repented

Question:
He also has a lengthy case that His Eminence the Shaykh summarized. He says that he committed a number of sins during his ignorance, and that he has repented, started doing good deeds, and seeks guidance.
Answer:
Whoever repents, Allah accepts his repentance. If a person commits sins, or even disbelief—if he commits disbelief or sins—and then repents, Allah accepts his repentance, provided he is sincere in his repentance and fulfills its conditions. These are: regret for the past evil deeds, abandoning them, leaving them off, guarding against them, and a sincere resolve not to return to them, out of fear of Allah and reverence for Him. Indeed, Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, accepts his repentance and forgives him, as He said: : [Taha:82] And He, Glorified is He, said: [Al-Nur:31] And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sunan Ibn Majah 4250Da’if (Darussalam).
The obligatory duty upon the believer is to hasten to repentance, and to have good expectations of Allah , then to persist and be sincere in not returning to past sins. What is connected to repentance is returning injustices to their owners if the sin was an injustice to people: in their person, wealth, or honor. Repentance is not complete until the money is paid to its owner if it was stolen or usurped, or something similar; he must pay it to its owner, or seek their pardon, saying: "Forgive me." If they forgive him, it is dropped. If it was honor, he seeks their pardon, saying: "My brother, I spoke about your honor; pardon me and forgive me." If he cannot do that and fears fitnah (trial, discord or temptation), he mentions the good he knows of them in the gatherings and assemblies where he backbit them, so that this offsets that. If he fears fitnah if he tells them that he spoke about their honor, then instead of mentioning them with bad things, he mentions them with the good things he knows of them. He mentions them in the places where he backbit them: "So-and-so has such a quality, and so-and-so has such a quality," so that they know their good traits, so that this becomes expiation for the bad traits he mentioned; because no person is free from good traits, noble traits, and bad traits.
Therefore, the one who backbites and is unable to seek pardon from his brother mentions the good, noble traits he knows of him. He does not lie, but he mentions the good traits instead of the bad traits he previously criticized him with, along with regret between him and Allah, regret and sorrow for what came from him, a resolve not to return to it, and guarding against engaging in it. Yes.

وَإِنِّي لَغَفَّارٌ لِمَنْ تَابَ وَآمَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا ثُمَّ اهْتَدَىAnd turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed.
وَتُوبُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ جَمِيعًا أَيُّهَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَThe one who repents from sin is like one who did not sin.
