The Ruling on One Who Does Not Pay Zakah and One from Whom It Is Taken Below the Middle Standard

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The request is for less than what should be paid out of the sheep, knowing that several years have passed since then, and it is possible that those sheep have multiplied. What is the ruling?

Answer:
The first questioner asked about jewelry, and she also asks about the years that have passed... The answer is: regarding the years that have passed, she owes nothing as long as she did not know, so she owes nothing for the past, but she must pay zakah in the future after she has learned the ruling.
As for this man who owns the sheep, it is sufficient for him if he pays from the money he has, if he gives the workers from the dirhams he has and does not sell anything, there is no harm. It is not obligatory for him to sell from his sheep or his camels. If he gives them what they requested, which is the nisab or the nisabs, from the dirhams he has, there is no blame on him. However, the obligatory amount is the middle standard. If the government took only a little, and he sees that it is below the middle standard, he should complete it and give the poor people in his tribe or others the completion of the zakah; because this is safer for his conscience and more cautious for him. The workers may be lenient and take a small amount of zakah, less than what is obligatory, and the obligatory amount is the middle standard. For example, if the sheep that is obligatory for him to pay is worth the middle one at six hundred, and the large, fat one at one thousand, and the deficient one, which is lean, at four hundred, and they took what corresponds to four hundred, taking the value of the lean and deficient one, he should complete it until he pays the value of the middle one, six hundred or similar.
The point is: he must ensure that the zakah is based on the middle standard of his sheep and camels. Yes.

The presenter: If he gave them an incorrect amount relative to the number of livestock he has?

The Shaykh: He must pay zakah, repent to Allah, and seek forgiveness. He must pay the remaining zakah. If he lied to them, he must pay the remaining zakah. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah bless you.
