The Ruling on the Hadith: (There is no prayer for the neighbor of the mosque...) and its meaning

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A letter from one of the listening brothers, 'Imad al-Din 'Abd al-Qadir Fadl Allah, from Sudan, sent asking and saying: What is the authenticity of the hadith that says:
There is no prayer for a neighbor of the mosque except in the mosqueلا صلاة لجار المسجد إلا في المسجد
Sunan ad-Daraqutni 3:592
? And if it is authentic, does its meaning imply that the person who is a neighbor to a mosque has his prayer not accepted except in the mosque, or what?
Please give us a ruling, may Allah reward you.

Answer:
The hadith is weak,
There is no prayer for a neighbor of the mosque except in the mosqueلا صلاة لجار المسجد إلا في المسجد
Sunan ad-Daraqutni 3:592
is weak, but it is famous from 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), and what is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) suffices for it, which is his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Whoever hears the call for prayer and and does not come (to the mosque for prayer), his prayer will not be accepted from him, unless he has a (legitimate) excuse.من سمع النداء فلم يأت فلا صلاة له إلا من عذر
Bulugh al-Maram 2:308
It covers the neighbor and the non-neighbor; and when a blind man came to him, he said: O Messenger of Allah, I have no guide to lead me to the mosque, so do I have a dispensation to pray in my house? He said to him (peace and blessings be upon him):
Do you hear the call to prayer?هل تسمع النداء بالصلاة؟
Sahih Muslim 653
He said: Yes, he said:
Then respond.فأجب
If a blind man who has no guide is ordered to respond, how about the others?!
So it is obligatory for all those who are accountable to attend the prayer in congregation, and to perform it in the mosque with the people, and it is not permissible for him to be absent from it in any way.
But if he is absent due to laziness or sleep, he prays it and he misses the virtue of the congregation, he prays it and it is valid, his prayer is valid, but he sins if he intentionally delays, he sins, but if he is overcome by sleep or something else that is not by his choice, then Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) says:
So fear Allah as much as you are ableفَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُم
[al-Taghabun:16].
As for if he is lax in sleep, and does not set an alarm, and does not have someone to wake him, then he is held accountable for that; because he is negligent, so he sins for that, but if he sets the alarm, or has someone to wake him, then he does not hear the alarm, and it does not work out for the one who wakes him, the one who wakes him sleeps, then there is no blame on him, for it is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he stayed one night during a journey in the last part of the night, and he ordered Bilal to watch for the dawn for them, until he wakes them, so Bilal complied, and he leaned on his camel looking at the dawn until he would inform them when the dawn appeared, so sleep took him, and he slept with them, and he slept just as they slept, so they did not wake up until the heat of the sun touched them, so when they woke up, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Bilal:
Where were you, O Bilal?!أين كنت يا بلال؟!
He said: The one who took my soul has taken your souls. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not reprimand him, and they performed ablution and prayed, they moved from their place, it is said that it was a place where Satan had come, then they performed ablution and prayed as they used to pray at its time.
So the point is: that if a person does the causes, and strives, then the causes do not benefit, then he owes nothing, he set the alarm, but he did not hear it, he ordered his wife and she is awake, or his mother or his father, but it happened that they did not get up that night, then there is no blame on him, but on the condition: that he is not one who stays up late, but if he intentionally stays up late, he is negligent, the one who stays up late, sleep becomes heavy for him, and he does not hear what he hears, the sound of the alarm.
So the result is: that it is necessary to do the causes, among which is to sleep early, not to stay up late.

The presenter: The one who stays up late, its meaning is: the one who delays, Your Eminence the Shaykh?

The Shaykh: It is the one who delays, who delays from sleeping, yes.
So the result is: that it is obligatory for the believer to do the causes that help him to pray with the Muslims at the time, Fajr and other than Fajr, and the hardest of them is Fajr, and it is the hardest for the hypocrites as well, so it is not befitting for the believer to imitate the enemies of Allah, the hypocrites, but rather he should sleep early, not stay up late until he wakes up, and along with this he should use the alarm that he sets for the time, and if he has people in his house who are awake in the last part of the night: a mother, or an aunt, or a good wife who wakes up, he emphasizes to them that they wake him, he may not hear the alarm either, so he emphasizes to them until they wake him, he does the causes that he can, and Allah says:
So fear Allah as much as you are ableفَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ
[al-Taghabun:16] Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
