The most important books of tafsir that are recommended for reading

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Your Eminence, what are the most famous books of tafsir that you recommend Muslims refer to and draw benefit from?

Answer:
The most famous and best books of tafsir are: the tafsir of Ibn Jarir (may Allah have mercy on him), a great and beneficial tafsir; the tafsir of Ibn Abi Hatim; and the tafsir of al-Hafiz Ibn Kathir (may Allah have mercy on him). These are the most famous tafsirs. Also, al-Baghawi (may Allah have mercy on him) has a great tafsir; his tafsir is a great one. We strongly recommend them, as they are great books that pay attention to the Book and the Sunnah.
There are other useful books, such as the tafsir of al-Shawkani, the tafsir of Shaykh Siddiq, and other tafsirs. However, the first-mentioned books are the leaders in this regard: the tafsir of Ibn Jarir (may Allah have mercy on him), the tafsir of Ibn Abi Hatim, and al-Baghawi and Ibn Kathir. These books hold importance and precedence. Yes.
Everyone makes mistakes and hits the mark; no one is infallible. Some errors and mistakes may occur in some of them. However, the reliance is on the evidence of the Shari'ah. It is not Ibn Jarir, nor Ibn Kathir, nor al-Baghawi, nor Ibn Abi Hatim, nor anyone else who is infallible from error. But the student of knowledge, and whoever reviews books of tafsir, should pay attention to the evidence of the Shari'ah. If something is unclear to him, he should present it to the great Qur'an and the pure, authentic Sunnah, or ask the people of knowledge if he does not have the knowledge. He should ask the people of knowledge from the people of the Sunnah and the community, the scholars of the Sunnah, about what is unclear to him. Yes.
Among the important books of tafsir, as mentioned earlier, is also the tafsir of al-Shanqiti (may Allah have mercy on him). Shaykh Muhammad Amin al-Shanqiti’s tafsir is also one of the important tafsirs, and he (may Allah have mercy on him) paid attention to it. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you, O Shaykh.
