The Ruling on Gold Rings for Women

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A listener from the Rabigh stone (Dr. S) sent a message containing a number of questions, one of which reads:
I read in the book *Adab al-Zafaf fi al-Sunnah al-Mutaharah* (The Etiquette of Marriage in the Pure Sunnah), authored by Shaykh Muhammad Nasir al-Din al-Albani, and I found evidence forbidding gold for women. What is the ruling on that statement? Is it correct?
May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
That is not correct. Gold is lawful for females, and likewise silk is entirely lawful for females. The evidence cited by Shaykh Nasir is either abrogated or weak and anomalous, contradicting the authentic hadiths. A group of scholars have reported the consensus of the scholars on the lawfulness of gold and silk for females, whether in the form of rings or not. The authentic hadiths indicate the lawfulness of gold and silk for the women of the Ummah, whether in the form of rings or not. The Shaykh, may Allah guide him, erred in this and deviated from the Ummah.
The correct view is that gold and silk are lawful for females and forbidden for males, whether the gold is in the form of rings or not. The evidence he cited was obscure to him, for it is either anomalous or abrogated by the authentic evidence.
The rule is that a hadith contradicting the authentic hadiths is considered anomalous, and an anomalous hadith is considered weak and not relied upon. A group of scholars stated that it is abrogated by the later evidence indicating the lawfulness of gold and silk for the women of the Ummah. For this reason, the scholars, indeed the scholars in general, agreed on the lawfulness of gold and silk for the women of the Ummah, and this has been reported by more than one scholar. Any disagreement that exists is an anomalous disagreement that is not relied upon by the scholars. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
