Is ritual purity required for reading from the mushaf?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner says: What is the ruling on reading the Qur'an from the mushaf without wudu'? Is this obligatory?

Answer:
It is not permissible for anyone to read the Qur'an from the mushaf except in a state of ritual purity; because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded this. Therefore, it is not permissible to touch the Qur'an except while in a state of ritual purity. Thus, a menstruating woman may not touch it, nor may one in a state of minor ritual impurity. As for reading from memory, there is no harm in doing so if one is in a state of minor ritual impurity. However, one in a state of major ritual impurity may not read, neither from the mushaf nor from memory, until he performs the full ritual bath.
As for the menstruating woman, there is a distinction: there is no harm in her reading from memory so that she does not forget it; this is the correct view. However, she may not touch the mushaf while she is menstruating or experiencing post-natal bleeding. But if she reads, there is no harm—Allah willing—according to the correct view; because her period lasts a long time, unlike one in a state of major ritual impurity. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you.
