The ruling on naming oneself with one of the attributes of Allah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Among the questions of this questioner, he says: O His Eminence the Shaykh: Is it permissible to take names that are considered among the attributes of Allah ? For some people take the name Rahmah (Mercy). What is the ruling on that?

Answer:
I do not know of anything regarding it. As for Rahmah, I do not know of anything regarding this. Allah’s name is al-Rahim (The Most Merciful); it is not Rahmah. His name is al-Rahim, a name of Allah, and al-Rahman (The Most Compassionate). As for Rahmah, it is not His name; it is not among His names, but it is among His attributes. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you.
