Question:
I also notice, O Shaykh, that among the letters in front of me right now is one that reached the program from al-Qunfudhah. Its sender is one of the brothers, (A. L.) from al-Qunfudhah, as I mentioned. Our brother also mentions that his wife is at the same level; he says: If he gives her these medications that regulate pregnancy, she is harmed by them. And if she remains without them, she carries for a year and nurses for another year, and her health is very poor.
And they ask: Is there a Shari'ah-compliant method that the woman can use, so that she does not flee from her husband and remains with him in this state?
Answer:
Yes, if she is harmed as the husband mentioned by pregnancy, and severe harms occur to her thereby, or to her young child; then there is no objection to his practicing coitus interruptus with her. Coitus interruptus is permissible, and the Salaf practiced it when there was a need for it.
Or he can consult specialized female doctors, perhaps they will find something that benefits her and does not harm her when there is a need and dire necessity for it. Coitus interruptus is an easy matter if the husband is able to do it. And if Allah decrees something, it will come to pass, even with a little of the semen. But this is among the causes, and success is in the hand of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). Yes.
