The Ruling on Fasting and Reciting the Qur'an for a Woman in Menstruation

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The last question our sister raises is as follows: Some women fast during their menstrual period, especially in Ramadan, out of ignorance or for other reasons. We ask you, may Allah reward you with good, to clarify what is forbidden for a menstruating woman and what is obligatory for her when her period ends?

Answer:
A menstruating woman does not fast, and her fast is invalid. It is not permissible for her to intend to fast. If she does so, she must repent to Allah for it, feel remorse, and resolve not to do it again. She must make up the days of Ramadan during which she had her period, because her fast was not valid. When a menstruating woman sees the blood, she must leave off the prayer and fasting, her husband must not have intercourse with her, she must not touch the mushaf, and she must not perform tawaf if she is in Makkah for Hajj or 'Umrah until she becomes pure. When she becomes pure, she must perform the ghusl for major ritual impurity, washing her entire body with water. After the ghusl, she is permitted to her husband, she prays with the people, and she fasts with the people, because the menstruation has ended. All of this pertains to the menstruating woman.
If she is on Hajj or 'Umrah, she does not perform tawaf until she becomes pure. There is no harm in her reciting the talbiyah, remembering Allah, glorifying Him, and standing with the people at 'Arafah. She stons the pillars and stands with them at Muzdalifah, even if she is menstruating, but she does not perform tawaf until she becomes pure.
The scholars differed on whether she reads or does not read.
The correct view is that she may read from memory. She does not touch the mushaf, but she reads what she has memorized from her heart. This is because her period lasts a long time, so it would be difficult for her to leave off recitation, and she might forget what she had memorized. This is unlike the one in a state of major ritual impurity, who does not read until he performs ghusl. The one in a state of major ritual impurity does not read until he performs ghusl.
As for the menstruating woman and the woman with post-natal bleeding, the correct view is that they may read. There is no harm, but only from what is in their hearts, meaning from memory. They do not read from the mushaf. If they need the mushaf, it is permissible for her to touch it without a barrier when reviewing certain verses. She should have gloves or something like gloves on her hands so that she does not directly touch the mushaf when looking up the verse or verses she needs to review, or she may seek the help of any of her sisters she wishes to review the mushaf for her regarding what is difficult for her or where she made a mistake. Yes.
