The Meaning of the Indications of Correspondence and Necessity in the Beautiful Names

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This is a questioner from Yemen, Abdullah. He says in this question: What is the meaning of the statement regarding the indication of the Beautiful Names: that they indicate the Essence by correspondence, and the derived attributes, and the attributes from which they were not derived by necessity?
We ask you to clarify that, Your Eminence.

Answer:
Yes, this is correct.
And to Allah belong the best names, so invoke Him by themوَلِلَّهِ الأَسْمَاءُ الْحُسْنَى فَادْعُوهُ بِهَا
[Al-A'raf 7:180]
The names indicate His Essence. Al-Rahman indicates His Essence, and that He, Exalted is He, is an Essence that subsists by itself, described with mercy. Likewise, Al-Sami' (The All-Hearing) and Al-'Alim (The All-Knowing), Al-Hakim (The Wise) and Al-Qadir (The All-Powerful), indicate both the Essence and the attribute by correspondence. Al-Rahman indicates the Essence and mercy, Al-Aziz (The Almighty) indicates the Essence and might, Al-Hakim indicates the Essence and wisdom, Al-Qadir indicates the Essence and power, and so on with the rest of the names.
And by necessity, they indicate the remaining attributes; because He is the Perfect One . So His being Al-Rahman indicates mercy, and indicates that He—(Exalted and Majestic is He)—is capable of everything, and that He is All-Hearing and All-Seeing, and so on, by necessity; because His perfection necessitates that He is All-Hearing, that He is All-Powerful, and that He is All-Knowing, and so on; because He possesses absolute perfection. So it is a necessary consequence of His being Al-Rahman, a necessary consequence of His being Al-Sami', and a necessary consequence of His being Al-'Alim, that the other attributes indicating His perfection follow. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you.
