Question:
After this, we move on to a message sent to the program from Jeddah, from the listener (A. A. M), our brother. We presented part of his questions in a previous episode, and in this episode he asks about striving against the self: is it among the greatest forms of jihad? And how is that done? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
Yes, striving against the self is among the most important matters, and it is, in reality, jihad in the path of Allah. In the hadith, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The one who struggles is the one who struggles against his self for the sake of Allahالمجاهد من جاهد نفسه لله
Sahih Ibn Hibban 23:156
, and Allah the Exalted says:
And those who strive for Us - We will surely guide them to Our ways. And indeed, Allah is with the doers of good.وَالَّذِينَ جَاهَدُوا فِينَا لَنَهْدِيَنَّهُمْ سُبُلَنَا وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَمَعَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ
[al-'Ankabut: 69]. So, striving against the self in performing the obligatory duties, abandoning the forbidden, and standing by the limits of Allah is among the most important forms of jihad, and among the most important obligations and duties. Yes.
