The ruling on one who finds a continuous fear of showing off in himself

Question:
He says: I find myself in distress over every action or statement I undertake, as a result of constantly thinking about showing off, which has deprived me of actions and statements that the benefit might require. What is the way to escape this, knowing that I have tasted much pain from it?

Answer:
This is one of the schemes of the enemies of Allah. Satan comes to the righteous man and says: You did this for showing off, you do this for showing off, until he discourages him.
So fear Allah and beware of this thing, and do not pay attention to the enemy of Allah. Do good, and these thoughts that tell you: showing off, showing off, are from Satan. Beware of them and do as much good as you can, and do not imagine these things. Know that they are from the schemes of the enemies of Allah, from the schemes of the devils, after you have learned from yourself that you did it for Allah. So beware of these whispers and do not pay attention to them at all.
