Is the counting of tasbih done with the fingertips or the finger joints?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
How is the tasbih performed after the prayers? Is it done with the fingertips or with the finger joints?

Answer:
With the fingertips. The tasbih is counted with the fingers. He (peace and blessings be upon him) counted with the fingers and made the knots with the fingers. This is the Sunnah.
One says Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah) thirty-three times, Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah) thirty-three times, and Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Greatest) thirty-three times after every obligatory prayer, and completes the hundred by saying: "There is no god but Allah, alone, without partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is able to do all things." This is one type. If one replaces the tahlil with a thirty-fourth takbir, that is also Sunnah. If one says Subhan Allah, Alhamdulillah, La ilaha illa Allah, and Allahu Akbar twenty-five times, that is also Sunnah: "Subhan Allah, Alhamdulillah, La ilaha illa Allah, Allahu Akbar" twenty-five times. This is another type. This is done after seeking forgiveness three times, and after saying: "O Allah, You are Peace, and from You is peace. Blessed are You, O Owner of Majesty and Honor." After saying: "There is no god but Allah, alone, without partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is able to do all things. There is no power and no strength except with Allah. There is no god but Allah, and we worship none but Him. His is the blessing, His is the favor, and His is the good praise. There is no god but Allah, sincere to Him in our religion, even if the disbelievers dislike it. O Allah, there is no one who can prevent what You have given, and there is no one who can give what You have withheld, and the wealth of the wealthy does not benefit them with You." This is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) after every obligatory prayer. Part of it is from the hadith of Thawban in Muslim, part of it is from the hadith of Ibn al-Zubayr in Muslim, and part of it is from the hadith of al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah in the two Shaykhs. Then one proceeds with the tasbih, tahmid, and takbir thirty-three times each, and so on.
