Question:
This questioner says: O esteemed Shaykh, some of my friends told me that smoking is not forbidden, but rather disliked. I ask you to clarify this matter, along with citing the evidence for the prohibition of smoking.
May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance. As for what follows:
Smoking is among the known prohibitions; and that is only because of its many harms. The Shari'ah came to prohibit everything that harms the servant in his religion and his worldly life. The harms of smoking are numerous, affecting the mind, the body, wealth, and reputation. Its harms are multiple. Therefore, it is obligatory for every Muslim to leave it and beware of it. Yes.
