Ruling on the wudu of one who steps on impurity
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Our sister asks and says: If a child urinates in a place, meaning not in the bathroom—may Allah reward you and the listeners—and a person passes by without knowing that there is urine in that place, and that person was in a state of wudu, so he stepped on that urine or walked over it, does his wudu become invalid?
Answer:
If a person steps on urine, or on other impurities, his wudu does not become invalid. However, if the urine is wet or his foot is wet, he must wash it when he becomes aware. If he did not know, he owes nothing. But if he knows and the urine or other impurity is wet, he washes his foot, or if his foot is wet and he steps on urine or the like, he washes it, washing whatever affected it. If the place of the urine is dry, or other impurity is dry and his foot is dry, he owes nothing, because he is not affected by it. Likewise, if he did not know that this was impure and he prayed, that does not harm him, just as if he prayed in a garment that was impure without knowing about it, until he finished the prayer, he does not have to repeat it according to the correct opinion.
Likewise, if he prayed in a spot that was impure, thinking it was pure, but he did not know until after the prayer, his prayer is valid according to the correct opinion.
Likewise, if he prayed and his foot or hand was affected by impurity, and he did not know about it until after the prayer, his prayer is valid according to the correct opinion.
The evidence for this is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed one day in his sandals, and there was dirt in them. Jibril (peace be upon him) informed him that there was dirt in them, so he took them off and did not repeat the beginning of the prayer. This indicates that the one who did not know is excused, so likewise if he completed it.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, and may He benefit us with your knowledge.
