The Ruling on a Woman’s Hijab When Reciting the Qur’an and Performing Prostration of Recitation

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This questioner says: Is it obligatory for a woman to wear hijab when reciting the Qur’an, or not? And if she comes upon a verse of prostration, does she have to put on hijab?

Answer:
If no one is with her, she is not required to wear hijab. And if she comes upon a verse of prostration, she prostrates, and praise be to Allah. Even if she is not in a state of ritual purity, this is the correct view. The correct view is that ritual purity is not a condition for the prostration of recitation, and likewise for the prostration of gratitude. So if she is reciting from memory while not in a state of ritual purity and comes upon a verse of prostration, prostration is prescribed for her. Yes.
