The one who is open about his sins has no right to be backbitten
All the sins of my followers will be forgiven except those of the Mujahirinكُلُّ أُمَّتي مُعافًى إلَّا المُجاهِرِينَ
Sahih al-Bukhari 6069
. So the one who drinks intoxicants in the market has no right to be backbitten, and the one who shaves his beard has no right to be backbitten regarding his beard, and the like of that—may Allah grant us well-being.
