Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is the Nafs an attribute of Allah like the other attributes?

Answer:
Yes, in the manner befitting Him; none knows its modality except He (Glorified and Exalted is He).
Q: You mean the attribute of the Nafs is not the Essence?
A: It is other than the Essence, yes:
You know what is within myself, and I do not know what is within Yourselfتعْلَمُ مَا فِي نَفْسِي وَلَا أَعْلَمُ مَا فِي نَفْسِكَ
[Al-Ma'idah: 116].
Q: Some of the brothers present wrote a question about this, may Allah reward you?
A: The Nafs is other than the Essence. The Essence is one thing, and the Nafs is another. There is no one other than Allah, and there is no person other than Allah.
Q: But the texts mention the Essence?
A: Yes, all the texts regarding the Essence:
Allah is the Creator of all thingsاللَّهُ خَالِقُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ
[Az-Zumar: 62],
Indeed, your Lord is Allahإِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ اللَّهُ
[Al-A'raf: 54], all of this refers to the Essence, which is also described by the Nafs.
Q: What is the Essence in language?
A: The reality of a thing; the Essence of a thing is its reality.
