Ruling on placing the deceased in a coffin inside the grave

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The deceased is placed in a coffin sometimes out of necessity, such as if he was a drowning victim, or if his body was emitting a foul odor?

Answer:
If he drowned and is transported from one country to another, he is placed in a grave, and there is no harm in that.

Question: But is he buried in the grave with the coffin?

The Shaykh: If there is fear that he will not be removed, if it harms them, if they were to remove him, he would not come out.
As for if it does not, if it does not harm, he is removed and placed in the grave niche. But if it ... offends people, and its smell is difficult for them, he is buried with the coffin, and this is sufficient. We ask Allah for success for everyone, and for the rectification of intention and deeds.
