Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is the meaning of the phrase: (He has joined the highest companion) when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) died?

Answer:
The highest companions are the messengers, the prophets, and the righteous ones about whom He (Exalted and Majestic is He) said:
And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger - those will be with the ones upon whom Allah has bestowed favor of the prophets, the steadfast affirmers of truth, the martyrs and the righteous. And excellent are those as companions.
[al-Nisa:69]. And he said at the time of death:
O Allah! (Please let me be) with the highest companion.
Sahih al-Bukhari 4437
because these highest companions have entered Paradise, and they are among the messengers and their followers, and he is asking his Lord to be with them, with those virtuous ones who obeyed Allah and His Messenger and attained Paradise and honor. They are the highest companions intended in His saying (Glorified and Exalted is He):
And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger - those will be with the ones upon whom Allah has bestowed favor of the prophets, the steadfast affirmers of truth, the martyrs and the righteous. And excellent are those as companions.
[al-Nisa:69]. May Allah make us and you among them.
