Ruling on interrupting the prayer to open the door

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
If I am praying and the doorbell rings, and there is no one in the house except me, what should I do? And if I leave the prayer, is there a sin on me?
Answer: The prayer varies: if it is a voluntary prayer, the matter is broader; there is no harm in interrupting it to find out who is knocking at the door. As for the obligatory prayer, one should not hasten to interrupt it unless there is something important that one fears will be missed. If it is possible to signal by saying the tasbih, it is the right of the man or the woman to clap so that the person at the door knows that she is occupied with prayer; that is sufficient. She should clap until he knows that she is occupied, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
If anything happens to someone during prayer, he should say “Glory be to Allah,” for when he glorifies Allah. He pays attention to him. Clapping applies only to women.من نابه شيء في صلاته، فليسبح الرجال ولتصفق النساء
Sunan Abi Dawud 940Sahih (Al-Albani)
. If it is possible to inform him that the woman is in prayer by clapping, or the man is in prayer by saying the tasbih, then do that. If this does not work due to distance and he does not hear it, then there is no harm in interrupting it out of necessity, especially in the voluntary prayer. As for the obligatory prayer, if the matter is important and one fears it is important, then there is no harm in interrupting it either, and then he should repeat it from the beginning, and praise be to Allah.
