Treating the doubts that arise in the heart

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
I used to perform many acts of obedience, but suddenly I started leaving some of them, due to some doubts that began to circle in my heart. These doubts became the cause of the decrease in my good deeds. What is the cure?

Answer:
Every disease has a cure. Allah has not sent down a disease without sending down a cure for it; those who know, know it, and those who do not, do not know it. So when a believer feels a shortcoming in his heart, or weakness in performing good deeds, let him turn to Allah, and ask Him for success and assistance in good, and to remove from his heart any doubt and darkness.
And he should ask the scholars about what has befallen him, and present his doubts to the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), if he is a student of knowledge. He should reflect and understand what Allah and His Messenger said regarding this matter that has become confusing to him, until the doubt is removed and knowledge and tranquility take its place.
And if he is unable to do that, he should ask the specialized scholars, and those from whom he hopes to gain benefit and good. He should ask them, persist, and strive until the doubt is removed. He should not be satisfied with one or two scholars as long as the doubt remains, until it is removed and knowledge, insight, guidance, and tranquility take its place.
Among the most important of this is that he should ask his Lord, and be humble to Him frequently, asking Him to assist him in this, to expand his chest for guidance, to remove from his heart the doubt and misguidance, to grant him beneficial knowledge and righteous deeds, and to make it easy for him to find scholars of good and scholars of guidance.
