Ruling on shortening the prayer for one who passes by his relatives during his journey and stays for two days

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
If a person travels from Riyadh to Makkah and passes through al-Qasim on his way, and he has some relatives in al-Qasim, and he stays with them for two days, is he considered a traveler on the grounds that these are his people, or is he considered a resident?

Answer:
No, he is considered a traveler as long as it is not his home. He merely passed by a relative in the town, an uncle in the town, or another relative. He remains a traveler in his state, because it is not his home, but rather the home of his relative. Therefore, his ruling is the ruling of travel.
However, one does not pray alone; he prays with the congregation and completes the prayer with them. If he is alone, he does not pray alone; he prays with the congregation and prays four rak'ahs. But if he is with brothers, two or three who pray together, if they wish, they may shorten it to two, and if they wish, they may pray four with the people.
