Discussion regarding a da'iyah in Britain imitating the disbelievers by wearing a tie

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : I have had experiences in some of my travels to some European countries. Once, I was invited during Ramadan, andThe Shaykh : there was with us in Britain a Pakistani Muslim da'iyah.
The student : ... .

The Shaykh: Yes.
The student : ... .

The Shaykh : How?
The student : Hafiz Ya'qub.

The Shaykh : I do not mean the one we went to break our fast with in Ramadan, not the butcher you asked me about. The point is, he was a noble man with a beard, and we heard good things about him; he calls people to Islam there, and Allah has made much benefit through him. When we sat at the iftar table and started talking, I noticed that he was wearing a tie there and had a beard. So I said to myself, "Subhan Allah, how can a beard and a tie coexist?"
The student : What do you mean by the tie? A graphite one?

The Shaykh : Graphite, ah. How can they coexist? When I sensed from him soundness, it encouraged me to advise him regarding this tie. I said, "My brother, you know that the Messenger (peace be upon him) forbade imitating the disbelievers, and even commanded to differ from the disbelievers. He even said (peace be upon him):
The Jews and the Christians do not dye (their hair), so differ from them. إن اليهود والنصارى لا يصبغون فخالفوهم
Sunan Ibn Majah 3621Sahih (Darussalam)
You are a noble man, and praise be to Allah, a da'iyah, and so on. How can you wear this?" By his grace, while he was at the table, he immediately untied it and threw it on the ground. I was pleased and thanked him, but soon this joy was followed by sorrow when he explained why he had worn the graphite tie. And this is the point: when he explained why he had worn the graphite tie, he said, "By Allah, Professor, I did not wear it out of love or imitation or resemblance, but the British here look at our Palestinian brothers, who are accustomed to unbuttoning and opening their shirts like this, with a look of contempt. So this Muslim da'iyah did not want the British to look at him with the same look they have for their Muslim Palestinian brothers. That is why he wore it." I said to him, "May Allah forgive you, if you had kept what was in your heart and not said this, it would have been better. The point is how this person was affected, even though he is a da'iyah. The environment has an effect."
