The Shaykh : For this reason, we said, and in the end of our lives, and after this long, extensive study of the Book and the Sunnah, that it is not permissible to act upon a part of a general text if the righteous Salaf did not act upon that part of the general text. This is the rule, meaning no scholar can contradict it at all. A general text contains many parts; one of these parts is what we are discussing here. One of these parts is truly honoring, but the righteous Salaf did not do it. So, this is not included in this general text.

Prostrating to him? The answer is: No. Why? Because this is not his right. What is the evidence? The practice of the Salaf. Bowing down to him is not something that should be done for a scholar. Why? Because the Salaf did not do it. Finally, standing up: Did they stand up for him? They said: No. So, we should not be deceived by general texts until after studying all of their parts.
