How to Deal with the Error of a Scholar Who Follows the Methodology of the Salaf

Question:
May Allah guide you, O Shaykh. A questioner asks: If a scholar who follows the methodology of the Salaf makes an error in one of the issues, should this issue be publicized and it be said that he erred in it, or should he be advised?

Answer:
Is he alive or dead? If he is dead, this sin or this fault is not mentioned; rather, one seeks forgiveness for him and prays for him. If he is alive, he should be advised and given sincere counsel in this matter.
